How do I install my eSIM?
Installing your Pocket Roam eSIM bundle is a piece of cake. Just follow these quick steps:
Check your email: After you buy, we'll email you a link to activate your bundle.
No email? No worries. Go to data.pocketroam.com and sign in with the email you used at checkout.
Scan the QR code. Once your bundle is active, you'll get a QR code. Scan it with your phone to install the eSIM.
Turn on data roaming. In your phone settings, turn on data roaming for the Pocket Roam eSIM.

When does my plan start?
Your plan’s days don’t start until your phone connects to a network in a country your plan covers. Installing early won’t use any of them. You have up to 12 months after buying to start using it.
Install a day or two before you fly, once your trip is locked in, while you’re on Wi-Fi. Once it’s installed, we can’t refund it if your plans change.
How much data do I need?
It depends how you use your phone. As a rough guide:
- Light use (maps, messaging, email): around 300–500MB a day
- Average use (plus social media and music): around 1–2GB a day
- Heavy use (video calls, streaming, hotspotting): 2GB or more a day

What's the difference between Unlimited Standard, Boost and Max?
They all give you unlimited data. The difference is how much full-speed data you get each day and how fast things run after that.

Full speed means 5G where it's available. Your 24 hours starts from when you first use the bundle and resets every day until the bundle ends.
What speeds will I get?
4G/LTE in most places, and 5G where the local network has it. Speeds depend on coverage, how busy the network is and your phone. Data bundles run at full speed the whole time. Unlimited bundles slow down after your daily full-speed allowance (see above).
Can I top up if I run out?
Yes. Your eSIM stays on your phone after a bundle runs out, so you can add a new bundle for the same destination without installing anything again. Top up any time at data.pocketroam.com.
Can I add more than one plan to the same eSIM?
Often, yes. For many destinations you can add a new bundle to the eSIM already on your phone from data.pocketroam.com, with no new install. Some destinations need a new eSIM, and the portal will let you know when you activate your bundle.
If you have more than one bundle on your eSIM:
- Only one runs at a time. The others wait their turn.
- Each one starts in its own country. A bundle’s days don’t start until you arrive somewhere it covers, so your Malaysia days won’t start while you’re still in Singapore.
- If two bundles cover the same country (say an Asia bundle and a Singapore bundle), the one that ends soonest is used first.
Can I make calls or send texts?
Not regular ones. Pocket Roam eSIMs are data-only. WhatsApp, FaceTime, Messenger and other apps that use data work as normal. You can still take calls on your usual SIM, but turn off data roaming on it to avoid charges.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, if you haven’t installed your eSIM yet. Contact us and we’ll refund you in full, or swap it for a different plan. Once an eSIM is installed or has connected to a network, we can’t refund it for a change of mind. If it doesn’t work, we’ll help you get connected, and if we can’t fix it we’ll replace it or refund you. Read our full refund policy →
